Explosion in Maidan-wardak killed 9 civilians
Security officials in Maidan Wardak province reported the death of 9 civilians as a result of two passenger vehicles colliding with roadside mines in the Jalriz district of the province.
Mohibullah Sharifzai, the spokesman for the governor of Maidan Wardak, told the media on Tuesday: “Nine people were killed and three children and two women were among those killed in the blasts.”
Meanwhile, Sharifullah Hotak, a member of the Maidan Wardak Provincial Council, told the media that 10 civilians were killed and 9 others were injured when two vehicles collided with roadside mines.
Officials have not yet commented on the identities of the victims but were reportedly residents of Waras district in Bamyan on their way to Kabul.
A spokesman for the governor of Maidan Wardak blamed the Taliban for the blasts in the province, but the Taliban have not yet commented.
Maidan Wardak province, southwest of Kabul, is one of the most insecure provinces in which Taliban fighters are active in parts of the province.
