With prudent steps, Afghanistan can achieve real peace

Peace talks and the unprecedented stalemate in this process have become questionable these days. As in recent weeks, the visit of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani from Qatar and Abdullah Abdullah, the National Reconciliation Council to Pakistan and India, and finally, a new round of Khalilzad visit to the regional countries shows that something mysterious is ongoing in this process. People who are increasingly engaged in this process and Afghan citizens believe that the United States, in cooperation with Qatar, may pressurize the Afghan government to reach an agreement with the Taliban based on Washington’s plans. The people say that current moves in the peace process show that possibly Afghanistan will make hasty peace and it will be an excellent achievement for the United States and the Taliban.
But parallels in the Afghan peace debate show that Trump will use Afghanistan peace with an undoubted reason as an electoral campaign tool after reaching an agreement with the Taliban in peace talks, so the White House is working harder than before the December election in The United States. That is why the Trump administration is willing to reach an agreement or a result acceptable to the United States people in the Afghan peace talks. Suppose Donald Trump has said that he will call all American troops from Afghanistan by Christmas. In that case, he is committing himself to fulfill his commitments to the American nation. Using this tool, he will become the next president of the United States, undoubtedly.
How rational is the outcome of peace talks?
But it would be wrong to expect the country’s two-decade crisis to be resolved rationally and comprehensively in a short period, despite the persistence of differences between the parties involved in the Afghanistan conflict and US longest war, even at the negotiating table. Of course, the Afghan delegation has so far shown that it should not rush forward, which is why it has so far not agreed to the Taliban’s wrong demands to reach a comprehensive approach from the beginning of the peace talks. But the fundamental question is, why not rush the peace process? In answer to this question, we can mention some possible reasons for it. First, although the peace process is currently at a standstill, with severe sensitivities issues, it is worth saying that the desired outcome of the process’s desired outcome peace process is now tied to the US elections’ outcome.
Why is Washington trying to end the war in Afghanistan in a hurry?
Washington is trying to accelerate the peace process and abandon the longest war as a US-led invasion of Afghanistan without reaching an end and escape from the Afghanistan long term war. This strategy’s primary reason is that current American politicians are currently using this peace process as an election tool to re-elect president trump. Meanwhile, the issue of peace and war is vital to the people of Afghanistan. It requires severe discussion and sensible solutions to remove the shadow of war from Afghan people’s lives in the long run, as the United States, regardless of the existing problems. In the upcoming future, working in this direction, the war in Afghanistan is will not be solved, but this crisis will intensify.
On the other hand, so far, no benefit has been obtained from this process for Afghanistan’s people. People are now burning in the fire of war, suicide, and explosions, and they spend their days and nights in terror. The fact that the Taliban have agreed at the peace talks with the United States that there has been no positive change in the Afghan people’s fate, even though the Afghan government has repeatedly called for a ceasefire, has so far not responded positively to its proposal.
What will be the outcome of the peace talks for Afghanistan?
After at least 20 days of efforts by the Afghan peace negotiating team, the Afghan people’s work has not yielded any positive results from the peace process, so why should the Afghan government rush into this process? On the other hand, the Taliban have not yet shown any flexibility in Doha and have not responded to Afghan people’s views and questions. The Taliban believe that the only way to achieve the desired system is to go to the Emirate; What Afghans never believe in is the Taliban’s desire to see the group as vague and selfish. Now that the people of Afghanistan are practically sacrificing and the Taliban have never had any respect for the country’s achievements in the last 19 years, that is considered every citizen’s human rights, why should the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan reach an agreement with the Taliban so soon? A contract with a group like the Taliban, while leaving differences in all cases, can only lead to a hasty and unacceptable peace for the Afghan people, which will have temporary consequences. But now as the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan delegation does not comply with this group’s demands is in the general interest of the Afghan people and shortens the hands of the profiteers of this process, even the United States. The people of Afghanistan should not be in a hurry to expect a peace agreement with the Taliban in the short term.
