Ministry of Defense: Sieged army soldiers rescued in Jalriz
After a video was posted on social media showing a number of Russian soldiers at a security checkpoint in the Jalriz district of Maidan Wardak province in a state of siege by the Taliban.
The tape shows that a number of soldiers are wounded and they have called for immediate help from the country’s top commander. Now, in response to this, the Ministry of Defense announces that the situation of these soldiers has been investigated as a result of an operation by commandos last night in the province.
“As a result of last night’s commando operation in Jalriz district of Maidan Wardak province, the besieged soldiers were rescued in the camp (Kote Ashro),” the Ministry of Defense wrote in a newsletter published on Monday (28th of Mizan).
“In this operation, all areas around the army checkpoint have been cleared of the Taliban, and now the situation in Jalriz district is completely under the control of the country’s defense and security forces,” the statement added.
The ministry added: “The wounded soldiers who were besieged in the camp (Kote Ashroo) were taken to the hospital for treatment and enough ammunition and food were delivered to the soldiers. During this operation, the Taliban fighters also suffered heavy casualties.”

The camp (Kote Ashru) was targeted by a Taliban car bomb last Wednesday night, injuring four soldiers. In the latest case, camp commander Abdul Jabbar said in a video that he was surrounded by the Taliban, not water. And they have bread and they can not take the wounded to the hospital. The case was met with strong reactions from the people.
