The Taliban have recently claimed control of more than 80 percent of the country’s territory, with some districts in more than 20 provinces falling to Pakistan in cooperation. But on the other hand, the people of Afghanistan’s national mobilization against the Taliban and their foreign backers have paved the way for popular uprisings in all war-torn provinces and, along with security forces, have prevented the Taliban from advancing.

While the Taliban war machine is sacrificing our people around the clock and opening the door to mourning in the homes of every Afghan, a high-level delegation led by Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of the Supreme National Reconciliation Council and a member of Hamid Karzai, Karim Khalili, Mohammad Mohaqiq, Inayatullah Babar Farahmand, Akram Khaplwak, and several others left for Doha at the invitation of Qatar to discuss the ceasefire with the Taliban and how to end the war and find a reasonable political solution. Although the meeting temporarily boosted public hopes for an end to the war and a ceasefire agreement, the optimism soon turned into a nightmare, with the Taliban attacking Kandahar’s Spin Boldak at the same time.

After signing an agreement with the United States not to attack each other, the Taliban made sure that they would not be attacked by the Americans. This increased the scope of the war with the logistical support of Pakistani intelligence in different parts of the country and even took over a large geographical area.

With the withdrawal of foreign forces and in order to seize more land, the Taliban sought to intensify the war in more than twenty-four provinces of the country. With the fall of some districts and the capture of important commercial ports, they wanted to seize the provincial capitals of the country. In the past two months, the Taliban and their supporters have suffered thousands of casualties and their war machine has recently been destroyed. On the other hand, the popular mobilization in support of brave security forces across the country shows a strong will. The people are supporting the regime and the security forces against the Taliban and their foreign backers. The Taliban have committed unforgivable crimes against the people in the areas under their control under the guise of implementing Islamic law, which have led the people to rise up against this savage and criminal group.

In such circumstances, the war imposed by Pakistan by their foreign mercenaries, known as the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate, is being sacrificed to the people of Afghanistan around the clock. On the other hand, there is no new window for peace talks between the representatives of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Taliban, but now the world is trying to break the Taliban war machine with diplomatic pressure and, in their opinion, force the Taliban to reduce Violence and ceasefire.

At a meeting between a high-level Afghan government delegation and the Taliban in Doha, the Taliban leadership called for a three-month ceasefire in exchange for the release of 7,000 prisoners from Afghan government prisons and the removal of their leaders from the UN Security Council blacklist. However, the high-ranking delegation of the Government of Afghanistan considered these demands as stupid and insisted that such talks be resumed after Eid.

The Taliban also want to reach a political agreement within three months of the ceasefire. The reason why the Taliban came to the table after the escalation of the war is that the leaders of this group in Qatar have come to the conclusion that they can no longer achieve their demands through war. On the other hand, the Afghan government is said to have made the acceptance of the ceasefire conditional on the Taliban withdrawing from major commercial ports. Meanwhile, the people of Afghanistan want a permanent ceasefire and an end to the war in the country.

Therefore, in order to achieve this aspiration, it is necessary to form a national mobilization inside the country in order to prevent the Taliban from facing the regime and the security forces. Popular movements alongside the security forces are working together in solidarity to re-liberate the Taliban-occupied districts and mobilize the Taliban.

On the other hand, it demands that the political consensus among the political leaders in the country increase. This consensus will increase the morale of the security forces and the people involved in the fight against the Taliban. And this consensus will also unite views at the peace talks table with the Taliban. It remains to be seen where this turbulent situation of war and peace talks in Doha will lead the Afghan people.
