Saudi Arabia’s contribution to the Tapi project

According to Saudi media, and reports from the Pasbanan, Saudi Arabia wants to help and cooperate in the Tapi project. The project which shares Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. Saudi Arabia’s minister for energy, industry, and mines, Khalid al-Falah, said in a statement that “Saudi Arabia is supporting the LNG project that is being transferred from Turkmenistan to India.”

The TAPI project is one of the major energy projects that Afghanistan has played an important role in transferring this gas pipeline from Central Asia to Southeast Asia. The $ 7.6 billion TAPI project was launched in 1995 by Turkmenistan, which transmits more than 33 million kubicks of natural gas to Turkmenistan through Afghanistan to Pakistan and then to India. It is worth mentioning that, through the use of the TAPI project, Afghanistan will receive more than $ 400 million in gas transit rights annually.
