The Kazakh police announced that they have arrested at least 20 protesters in the capital of Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh government has decided to change the name of Astana city, to the name of the former president of the country Nursultan Nazarbayev. But this issue caused massive protests in that country. Protesters opposed yesterday in front of Astana municipality, according to reports as a result of efforts police was able to arrest 20 protesters during this protest. These people were faced with dozens of others who were supporting the change of name before they were arrested by the police, Kazakh media reports said.

Nursultan Nazarbayev stepped down suddenly on Tuesday, this weekend, he was in power for thirty years. This is after the resignation of Nazarbayev, Qasim Zhumarat Tukayev, on Wednesday as Kazakhstan’s interim president, swore allegiance.
