Attorney General’s Office of Afghanistan has announced the release of 20 women prisoners on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The Attorney General office of the country has said: “According to a presidential decree, 20 women were freed from prison on the occasion of International Women’s Day, and for 13 other women discount was set for their prison staying time.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Asad Sapi, head of the Attorney General’s Office for the Supervision of the Enforcement of Sentences and Alternatives, and the Chairman of for the Implementation of Presidential decree Committees adds: The order recognizes the privilege of women in detention, the Attorney General has always upheld and respected the human dignity and liberty of the citizens. “The implementation of this decree, at the same time as it is issued, reflects the goodwill of the Attorney General Leadership and respect for the human dignity of the people of Afghanistan,” he added.
