A mosque imam in Herat was shot by the Taliban

Security officials in the western Herat province have reported the death of a mosque imam in the province.
Qari Ghulam Rasul, the imam of the mosque in the (Anderskan) district of Herat province, was shot dead by Taliban gunmen after night prayer.
Qari Ghulam Rasul was a member of the Anderskan District Ulema Council and a prominent figure in the district.
Jilani Farhad, a spokeswoman for the Herat provincial office, confirms the incident, saying that “the perpetrators of this crime will be arrested by the security forces soon and will be brought to justice.”
According to reports, this is the ninth person killed in the province in the past six months by gunmen.
