Abdullah: The Taliban release from prisons by Ghani are electoral campaigns

Abdullah Abdullah, the Chief Executive of the National Unity Government, said on Monday at the meeting of the Ministers in Kabul that “Taliban prisoners have not been released for goodwill, but this process should not be overtaken as an electoral campaign.” Mr. Abdullah continued to “If the emancipation of Taliban prisoners and other efforts has been made in the peace process on a voluntary basis than I think that this process will lose its main impact on the peace process.”
Dr. Abdullah has also emphasized that as presidential elections approached, steps should be taken to proceed with the work of the government or to forge peace talks on issues related to elections, according to the Chief Executive of NUG, “No one can be a champion of peace alone. During the days of Eid al-Fitr, President Ghani issued an order to release nearly 900 prisoners from the country’s prisons, which began the release of the prisoners a week ago.
