Afghan forces retake Keran –Menjan district in Badakhshan

Security forces seized the Koran and Manjan districts of Badakhshan province.
The Ministry of National Defense (MoD) said in a news release that security forces were able to recapture the district from Taliban capture by launching massive operations in the Koran and Manjan districts of Badakhshan province.
Taliban suffered heavy casualties in the operation to retake Kuran – Munjan district, the statement said.
The country’s national flag was flying over the district, it said.
Kuran – Mujan had fallen to the Taliban nearly two months ago. The district is popular for having lapis lazuli mineral deposit.
