Following the closure of the eastern Pakistani airspace the planes entering Afghanistan from Central Asia, the Aviation Administration has now announced plans to open the new air route bypassing the northeast of Pakistan and southern China to New Delhi as soon as possible. Pakistani space shutting down in New Delhi has now triggered a three-fold increase in flight times to India, and the challenge for Afghan patients is further ahead. But officials say the shuttle will be reduced from six hours to less than 4 hours by opening the route. Pakistani space was shut down about one and a half months ago on Afghan aircraft, due to tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad.
