Appointment of Wahid Omar as the senior adviser to the president

President Ghani, appointed Wahid Omar as a senior adviser of the presidential palace for public relations and strategic affairs. Based on the decree of the President of the country, Mr. Omar will be able to attend the meetings of the Cabinet, the National Security Council and the Supreme Economic Council. According to the presidential decree: “Under Article 64 of the Constitution, of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan the president order to create a news position under the title of Senior Advisor to the President on Public Affairs and Strategic Affairs and I am appointment of respectable Wahid Omar is accepted to the mentioned position.”
The decree also states that Mr. Omar is now required to formulate policies and guidelines for strategic communications and coordinate its implementation with the all the agencies. Wahid Omar previously served as Ambassador to Afghanistan in Italy. He is a young and 41-year-old politician who had previously served as President Karzai’s spokesman.
