The National Directorate of Security (NDS) reported that their special forces were able to arrest a 16 members group of the ISIL insurgents, which are social media activists and facilitators of the group. According to the National Security Forces newsletter, these individuals were detained from Kabul and Nangarhar in two separate operations.

The newsletter adds that 6 detainees were charged with massive propaganda for ISIS in virtual social media networks and they were able to launch at least 200 pages in social networks to launch an extraordinary campaign of social media in the country to recruit new soldiers to ISIS ranks.

In addition, ten ISIL-affiliated members were detained in Nangarhar, who were responsible for assassinating individuals, transporting weapons, transporting explosives, and transferring ISIL families to Nangarhar, and transporting 12500 kg of ammonium nitrate-rich explosives. The National Directorate of Security has also announced that there are ongoing investigations of these people.
