According to unconfirmed reports, the US has agreed to a draft peace agreement after eight rounds of peace talks with the Washington Taliban and its political bureau in Qatar. Presently, two copies of the agreement are said to have been provided to President Ghani and to the chief executive of the Afghan government, Abdullah Abdullah. But the presidential palace has not confirmed or denied the news.
The reports come amid claims of close ties to the Taliban that a peace deal between Washington and the group’s political leadership in Qatar will be signed in the next few days as Taliban strikes have increased in Kabul city. They have increased their bloodshed over the capital.
