Continued clashes between Taliban and ISIS in northern Afghanistan
In the recent report published by “Long War Journal website”, the war between Taliban and ISIS is ongoing by two insurgent groups in northern Afghanistan. According to this report, several fighters on both sides have lost their lives in this war. These clashes have continued in northern cities such as Jowzjan and Sar-e-pol provinces of the country, the geography that both groups had fought each other several times. This report is written by “Bill Roggio and Caleb Weiss” in this report it is also said that these clashes have forced Taliban from further achievements in war. Because currently, Taliban fighters are busy with tackling a group which has newly represented their self in the Northern provinces of Afghanistan. At the same time ability of ISIS has undermined the influence of Taliban and their narrative as an opposite group of Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Taliban and ISIS are currently fighting each other in Nangarhar eastern province of Afghanistan and at the same time, they are operating against Afghan security forces and US military members. These clashes increased while ISIS affiliates began their operations for seizing several areas controlled by Taliban in Darzab district of Jowzjan. At the same time, the Taliban targeted several check posts and bases controlled by ISIS in Darzab and Qush Taipa districts of Jozjan.
These clashes between Taliban and ISIS has increased in a time that currently tensions between the central government of Afghanistan and fans of Abdul Rashid Dostum has increased and they have warned that they will burn all governmental institutions if their arguments were not fulfilled by the government. According to statics released by Afghanistan defense ministry up to now at least 70 Talib and more than 60 ISIS fighters were killed in these clashes and more than 200 others were injured. There was no official confirmation from Taliban and ISIS groups up to now.
