The head of the secretariat of the Afghanistan Independent Elections Commission says technical measures have been taken to hold tomorrow’s presidential election. Habib Rahman Nang, head of the IEC secretariat, said: “Sensitive and insensitive electoral materials have reached to 446 administrative units throughout the country and the process of transferring these materials to 102 near administrative units will be completed by the end of today.”

Mr. Nang further added, “The Afghanistan Independent Elections Commission has issued a total of 260 national and international institutions credentials certificates and has continued to provide these certificates to more than 144,000 national observers observation card.” As some election commissioners had already announced, corruption and continued outside interference have prevented them from holding the elections properly.
