According to a national television station, and in accordance with to the report of Pasbanan News agency, a government source today Friday announced that the Afghanistan High Peace Council would be canceled and the Ministry of Peace will be established instead of this institution. This source has not provided any further details in this regard.

This issue has become public in a time that, a number of working committees on the Peace Consultative Jirga one day ago urged for the cancellation of the High Peace Council due to the uselessness of this council. The High Peace Council was set up in 2010 after the proposal of the Peace Consultative Loya Jirga under the decree of former Afghan President Hamid Karzai, according to the statistics, the organization has annual financial costs of millions of dollars, but until now, this body did not do anything useful to ensure peace in the country.
