Exit from Afghanistan is a strategic suicide

General Marc Melly, the military candidate for the Joint Chiefs of Staff of US forces, said that the country’s early withdrawal from Afghanistan would be “a strategic mistake.” The general, speaking to members of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said that in his view, the war in Afghanistan would end with negotiations and reaching an agreement with the Taliban, but the United States should not hesitate to pull out its troops in the shortest possible time.
According to Mark Miley, the United States has made “progress” in this regard. These statements come as the Taliban say in the seventh peace talks with the United States that the group has agreed with Washington on the withdrawal strategy in a short time, something that US forces reject and emphasize. Which will not leave Afghanistan until they are sure that they will not end their threats.
