Ghani: Afghanistan will not be the battleground of any country

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has expressed concern over the possible escalation of violence in the region, referring to the killing of Qasim Soleimani, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s Quds Force in a US air strike in Iraq. Mr. Ghani has also assured the countries of the region that in accordance with the terms of the security agreement with the United States, Afghanistan will not be used in any way against any foreign country.
President Ghani, in a phone call with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, has emphasized the lack of use of Afghan soil against a third country or other regional conflict.
The statement reads that the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has been following the developments in the region closely and is committed to maintaining and extending its bilateral and multilateral relations with all countries in the region and the world.
