Ghani and Khalilzad meet at the height of the tensions between Kabul-Washington

After tensions raised between Kabul-Washington on, US-Taliban peace talks and non-aligned with the Afghan government, for the first time, Zalmay Khalilzad, the Special Envoy for Afghanistan’s Peace talks, met with President Ghani. “President Ghani met with Zalmai Khalilzad last evening,” spokesman Haroon Chakhansuri said. “Both sides Talked about current peace talks. These meetings will continue, and the results will be shared with the Afghan people as soon as possible.”
Meanwhile, it has been said that President Ghani has also discussed the issue of Hamdullah Moheb national security adviser’s during these talks with Khalilzad, but presidential palace and US embassy in Kabul have not formally publicized anything regarding this issue. This meeting is being held while the Afghan president has begun to formulate efforts to secure peace in discussion with political and jihadist leaders.
