Ghani: Refugees are our priorities and a part of national agenda

President Ashraf Ghani considers refugee return as a national priority. Mr. Ghani announced this issue during a meeting with Iranian, Pakistani and European asylum representatives at the Presidential Palace. According to the presidential palace newsletter: “Mr. Ghani discussed the issues of asylum seekers, scholarships, Hajj’s and the investment of Afghan asylum seekers of the country residing abroad.”
Mr. Ghani said the government is working with the European Union on a joint program to return Afghan refugees to the country. According to statistics provided by the United Nations, there are currently around 6 million Afghan refugees in Iran and Pakistan, as well as hundreds of thousands more in the European countries.
