Ghazni Journalists: The involved parties must protect journalists

Several journalists and media activists of Ghazni have called on the parties involved in the Afghan war during a gathering in Culture and information department of Ghazni on Saturday, to protect safety of Afghan journalist during their military operations. Taj Mohammad Sikandar, a Ghazni base Journalist in interview with Pasbanan reporter, that attacking journalists is contrary to the civil and libertarian values and calls for such attacks to be exacerbated.
“The journalist as an impartial person they are not affiliated with any group, and the involved parties must pay attention to their personal safety during the conflict,” Mr. Sikandar told the correspondent news agency. Naikzad Khalij, the head of Journalists’ Union in Ghazni said, targeted attacks on journalists, lack of information, and lack of supportive programs are a part of the problems that Afghan journalists are facing in the country.
This gathering took place on Saturday while Sultan Mahmoud Khairkhwah, a Khost based journalist at Zheman television was killed, in an attack by unknown gunmen two days ago. According to the information provided in the first 3 months of 2019, at least three journalists in Afghanistan have been killed and two others have been wounded in terrorist attacks, Taliban are responsible for most of the incidents.
