In the last 18 years, the bloody battle between Afghan security forces, the Taliban and ISIL has claimed thousands of lives. In the most recent case, the Islamic Party leader and presidential candidate claimed that over one million citizens have died in battles between the parties involved in the last 18 years. Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, leader of the Islamic Party and a presidential candidate who has been an armed opposition to the government for more than a decade, says more than one million Afghans have been killed in wars in the past 18 years and the United States and NATO have failed to provide security and stability in Afghanistan.
Speaking at an election rally in Kabul before Friday’s lunch (Friday, August 16), Hekmatyar added that the national unity government was unable to decide on the country’s most important issues. He emphasized that the United States is trying to create a government in Afghanistan that can survive for some time after the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.
