Herat, which is considered to be the oldest provinces and cradles of civilization in Afghanistan, is full of cultural sites. In the latest case, the head of information and culture of this province has claimed that they have had good achievements in maintaining the cultural sites. He said: “In addition to the government’s efforts, the Aqa Khan Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has also partnered with us in maintaining 52 cultural sites. Among these, it is possible to restore and preserve the old city and the castle of Aktivar u-Din. Next to it, we have reconstructed a number of cultural places like the great temple of Herat, which has been spent on cultural heritage in Herat for nearly 2 million dollars in the years to come.”

Mr. Rawoofyan Added: “The local government is determined to carry out more serious work in the coming years in the reconstruction of Herat cultural institutions, in cooperation with UNESCO. It should be noted that due to the efforts of national and international institutions in Herat, we witnessed the presence of 500 foreign tourists and 100,000 domestic tourists in 2017. ”

According to the Directorate of Information and Culture of Herat province, in 2018, they tend to increase the number of foreign and regional tourists to 2,000 people in the city.
