Interior ministry new orders for Securing IEC Provincial offices
The interior ministry has instructed all police forces in the provinces of Afghanistan to use military force if necessary to secure the provincial headquarters of the Independent Election Commissions (IEC) provincial offices. Deputy Interior Minister Akhtar Mohammad Ebrahimi said: the election is a national process and no individual or group has the right to close the offices of these institutions.
Mr. Ebrahimi has called on all political and social institutions and activists to protest and seek their right according to the law, but they cannot stop the national election process by closing the doors of the Independent Election Commission. The interior ministry official has also emphasized that all security officials in the provinces of the country are required to provide security to the electoral bodies. He called on the citizens of the country to prevent the bullying from interfering the electoral process.
