Iran’s foreign secretary travels to New York

Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif is visiting New York today to participate in the United Nations Economic and Social Council, according to foreign media reports. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi was quoted by foreign media as saying: “Mr. Zarif is scheduled to attend the annual meeting of the United Nations Economic and Social Council and meet with senior officials from Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Bolivia at the sidelines of this meeting.”
Mr. Zarif travels to New York in a time when the tensions between Tehran and Washington have reached to its peak. In addition, it is said that Mr. Zarif will talk with UN officials about the current economic and social situation in Iran.
