Iran’s response to the outcome of Peace Consultation Loya Jirga in Afghanistan

The Iranian Embassy in Kabul congratulated the Afghan government on the successful outcome of “Consultative Peace Loya Jirga” as a traditional symbol of the partnership and peace-keeping of the Afghanistan People. According to the Iranian Embassy’s social networks in Kabul, holding this Jirga is an example of peaceful peoples of Afghanistan. The Iranian embassy wrote on Twitter: “The holding of the Peace Consultative Loya Jirga and the participation of the Afghan people in deciding issues are an indication of the peaceful voice of the people of Afghanistan.”
Three days ago, the Iranian Foreign Ministry, referring to the opening of the “Consultative Peace Loya Jirga”, announced that Iran would welcome and support any process that would benefit Afghanistan’s peace, stability, and security. This is while the Peace Consultative Loya Jirga began on April 28, where 3200 participants voted on four key questions on peace issues.
After the end of consultative Peace Jirga, the Consultation on how to deal with the Taliban was completed on Friday, 3rd May. Finally, president Ghani chose the outcome of this Jirga as a road map to the Afghanistan peace and emphasized that the implementation of this road map will begin soon, but the Taliban have different views on holding of the Loya Jirga and called this big meeting a symbolic and dramatic one. Meanwhile, the Afghan government has announced that they are ready to apply the cease-fire in honor of the holy month of Ramadan.
