Jens Stoltenberg, NATO security general has said that US efforts for ending the war in Afghanistan have caused a unique opportunity. Mr. Stoltenberg has stated: “In this last session of our Ministerial meeting, we will discuss our engagement in Afghanistan. Together with our Operational Partners in the Resolute Support Mission. And the Afghan Defense Minister. Our mission in Afghanistan remains a top priority and our commitment to ensuring the long-term security and stability of the country is steadfast. US-led efforts are underway to find a negotiated, peaceful solution to the war in Afghanistan. There is a unique opportunity for peace.”

He has also said: “We strongly support Ambassador Khalilzad’s efforts. And we will continue to provide the training and financial assistance needed to create the conditions for a peaceful, negotiated solution in Afghanistan.” This statement comes in a time that currently Taliban and US chief Negotiator Zalmay Khalilzad are preparing for resuming 7th round of peace talks in Doha capital of Qatar.
