Jens Stoltenberg: Taliban must sit on negotiating table to reach the political agreement

As Afghanistan is facing a new phase of relations with the international community and the entire region, Peace talks between Taliban and US officials continue in Doha, Qatar. Once again NATO Secretary General has stated that the NATO fully support peace efforts in Afghanistan. Jens Stoltenberg was speaking at a meeting with Poland president has highlighted: “we support peace efforts. We are there (Afghanistan) to create the conditions for peace. To send a clear message to the Taliban that they will not win on the battlefield, but they have to sit down at the negotiating table and reach a political agreement.
Mr. Stoltenberg also stated: “for any peace to be sustainable, it will need to be built on the achievements that have been made in the recent year, including on human rights and the rights of women.”
NATO secretary general calls on Taliban to set on negotiation table in a time that currently peace talks are ongoing between Taliban and US officials. According to reports possibly negotiations among US and Taliban will be followed in the 6 stages.
