Zalmay Khalilzad, the United States Special Envoy for Afghanistan’s Peace, has said that delay in Intra-Afghan meeting between Taliban and other parties in Qatar is troublesome. Mr Khalilzad wrote on his Twitter page: “I am disappointed with the delay in holding an Intra-Afghan meeting between Taliban and other sides in Qatar. We are in touch with all parties and urge them to support peace talks and play their part in the process. ”
Mr Khalilzad also added: “Dialogue is the only key to end the crisis and achieve a political solution to the Afghan crisis. I think there are no other alternatives. I urge all parties not to waste time and to rejoin this trend; they should agree with the submitted list which is sent by the government because the participants will speak on behalf of the Afghanistan citizens. If necessary, I am ready to work for this purpose and help this process. ”
It was scheduled that Taliban would hold an intra-Afghan meeting between Taliban and other Afghan politicians and prominent figures in Qatar but this meeting was delayed when the government offered a list of at least 243 people who would join this summit but in response eventually the Taliban announced that they did not attend the wedding ceremony, but these participants will talk about the fate of Afghanistan and the future of peace.
