Khalilzad: Efforts to reach a peace deal with the Taliban are underway in the technical part

While the United States reports significant and positive developments in the peace talks with the Taliban and the US-Taliban peace deal was expected to be signed by the 4th of Eid, in the latest case, US Special Envoy Zalmay Khalilzad for the Afghanistan peace process, has said that the negotiating teams are currently working on technical issues to reach a peace deal as soon as possible. Mr. Khalilzad wrote in a tweet: “This round of talks between the US and the Taliban has ended on August 3.”
Mr. Khalilzad, referring to the early finalization of the agreement, has also written: “Over the past few days, the two sides have been focusing on technical details and have had useful discussions. I am returning to Washington, DC to consult on the next steps.” The Taliban leadership said during a meeting with Uzbek officials that by signing a peace deal agreement they wanted Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan. They have assured the Uzbekistan government and its officials that they will support infrastructure projects of the country in Afghanistan.
