Khalilzad meets with elders and local officials of Kandahar

Zalmay Khalilzad, after meeting with senior officials in Kabul, went on a trip to Kandahar to meet with local officials and its elders. Zalmay Khalilzad, a special envoy to the Afghan peace process, talked about peace talks with local government officials with Kandahar elders, reports said.
According to the Presidential palace newsletter, Mr Khalilzad has been discussing peace talks with President Ghani yesterday. In addition, Zalmai Khalilzad met with Abdul Rab Rassoul Sayyaf, Hekmat Khalil Karzai and Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal. These talks are being held in the wake of the forthcoming sixth round of Peace talks with the Taliban in Qatar.
