Zalmay Khalilzad, the US Special Representative for Afghan Peace Affairs, said: Concerned about the statement by the Pakistani government and the clarity that the Pakistani government has given to reject the claims of the Afghan government regarding Islamabad’s involvement in Afghanistan’s internal affairs.
Mr. Khalilzad, with a news release on his Twitter page, welcomes the assistance of Pakistan and other countries in the region to the Afghan peace process.
Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said Monday that the position of the Afghan government was blocking the country’s current peace talks and called for the establishment of an interim government in Afghanistan.
Later, the Pakistani government made clear in a statement that the statements of the Pakistani PM were misread in the media.
Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement was rebuffed by intense reactions from the Afghan government and ambassador to Kabul.
