Tanzanian Parliamentary member Lady Nekononi says the men of the parliament must be circumcised. The controversial proposal was put forward to counteract and prevent the spread of AIDS, with opposition from and criticism from other delegates. She added: “Uncircumcised people must be identified and be circumcised as soon as possible in order to prevent the spread of HIV in the country.”
Meanwhile, one of the men’s parliamentarians welcomed the suggestion, and others opposed to this suggestion. World health statistics show that 70 percent of the people in the country are circumcised and only five percent of the people in the country are infected with AIDS.
