The Ministry of Public Health’s Polio directorate has announced that the on 1st of April they have launched a new campaign of polio in the entire country. The agency has written on its Twitter page: “Today 1st of April is equal to the beginning of polio campaign new round across the country. We have started a new polio campaign and let vaccinators to vaccine your children under the age of 5 so that we can keep Afghanistan away from paralysis disease.”

The campaign has started at a time when Afghanistan has been able to carry out a serious of achievements to eradicate polio over the past 18 years, but insecurity and the ban of Taliban in the areas under the administration of the group have caused at least 7 cases of paralysis to be recorded in 2018.
