Mr. Mohammad Fahim Hashemi, Head of the Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology, arrived in Herat province on Tuesday, 27 August.

During a meeting with Herat Governor Qayyum Rahimi, Mr. Hashimi emphasized investment in the telecommunications and technology sector in Herat province, saying that Herat’s people and investors can play an important role in this sector.

He said investment in technology in Herat could provide more opportunities for residents in the province.

The head of the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology said there are new plans to expand the use of cheap and high-speed internet throughout Afghanistan.

Mr. Hashemi stressed that securing telecommunications sites, especially private companies, across the country is one of the things that local authorities should consider.

The Governor of Herat also welcomed the head of the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology and spoke about the comprehensive cooperation of the provincial authorities for the growth of the technology sector and the security of telecommunications sites, especially for private companies.

Yesterday, the Taliban group claimed in a news release that they were targeting Salam Taliban militia. Taliban claimed it was informing US intelligence.
