Myanmar registered 206 human trafficking cases in 2108

Myanmar anti-trafficking police force told media that they have registered a total of 206 human trafficking cases in 2018, in which 317 people including 25 children were victimized. Action was taken against a total of 598 suspects in connection with the cases in the Yangon region topped the areas where human trafficking mostly occurred during the year with 55 cases, followed by Shan State 54, and 27 cases in the Mandalay region has been registered.
Reports indicated that most of the factors, such as forced marriage has been blamed as the main cause of human trafficking in the country, followed by forced prostitution, labor exploitation or forced labor, illegal adoption and illegal surrogacy.
