“A sustainable solution in Afghanistan cannot be achieved by military means alone,” a senior NATO official said Saturday. “We all agree that it is clear that a sustainable solution in Afghanistan is clear. It is not only accessible by military means. ”
The remarks come after US President Donald Trump abruptly canceled peace talks with the Taliban and stepped up military operations against the group.
Mr. Pich said that NATO would continue to train and advise Afghan security forces. We make them stronger so that they can fight international terrorism and maintain security and stability in their country.
“Our military presence is there to create conditions for peace,” he said.
Earlier, NATO Secretary-General Stoltenberg had said on Saturday that he had made phone calls with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.
He said the Allies and NATO partners are fully committed to supporting Afghanistan by training and funding and helping to create conditions for peace.
