At the door step statement of NATO defense ministerial meeting, Jens Stoltenberg NATO Secretary General has said that NATO and the US is looking to find a mechanism which would be respectable for all parties who are involved in Peace deal. Mr. Jens Stoltenberg has said: “Of course, one of the important aspects of any potential peace deal will be how we can have mechanism in place to make sure that it is respected, implemented, and verifiable. Therefore it is no easy way to peace but we need a political solution. We need a negotiated solution. For NATO the best way to support those peace efforts is to provide train, advice and assist support to the Afghan army and security forces because the Taliban has to understand that they will never win on the battlefield.
NATO SG, has condemn the US and NATO led forces casualties and he has said that for ending this death lock all sides need to find a political solution. According to Jens Stoltenberg: “They have to sit down at the negotiating table. The United States and other NATO Allies and partners still suffer casualties and I express my condolences to all those who have lost loved ones and family members. That just underpins the message of peace that we are still witnessing casualties among Afghans but also of course among NATO troops.” These statement comes in a time that earlier Mike Pompeo has said that after achieving a potential peace deal they will withdraw from Afghanistan but the timetable for US and NATO Troops withdrawal depends on the nature of the agreement which would be achieved by both sides. Meanwhile it is expected that on upcoming Sunday US and Taliban peace delegation will resume the seventh round of peace talks in Doha capital of Qatar.
