In a news release published by the Iranian Public Relations Agency, a cruise missile from the submarine “Ghadir” has been tested on the second day of the military exercise in the Persian Gulf. The three-day exercise, entitled “Velayat 97”, began on Friday in southern coast of Iran, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Oman Sea.
Iran had also tested two other cruise missiles on the second day of the exercise. US officials consider Iran’s missile tests to be in violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231.
The European Union also expressed its concern over this month by issuing a statement on Iran’s missile tests, which was considered incomplete by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231. Iran has consistently responded that its missile program is not pursuing nuclear targets, and therefore the West’s claim is not relevant to the violation of the UN Security Council resolution
