US Department of Defense announced the identity of its two US soldiers by publishing an official newsletter. According to the Pentagon newsletter, the soldiers were known as Lindsay and Joseph Colet who were wounded in a first-hand battle with the Taliban and were dead due to severe injuries. DoD Newsletter has announced that the two US military service members were wounded during a military operation in Goor Tepa district of Kunduz. In addition, it is also stated that an Afghan Special Forces soldier was also killed during this battle.

Since 2001US military invasion in Afghanistan, the United States has lost at least 2,400 troops in Afghanistan in the longest Battle of its history, and currently at least 14,000 other military service member of US is working in the framework of the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, in addition to Train, advise and assist missions these forces are also launching special operations to suppress terrorists in Afghanistan.
