The head of Afghan High Peace Council Secretariat has announced that a political parties’ meeting with Taliban political representatives in Qatar will be held after the Consultative Loya Jirga summit in Kabul. “One of our considerations regarding the holding of political leaders’ meeting with the Taliban in Qatar is that there is little opportunity for a Loya Jirga to hold a consultation, so we expect that the meeting to be held after this ceremony,” said Mohammad Omar Dawoodzai. He has also stated that the Loya Jirga would be held without any delay.
“If the meeting is held before the Loya Jirga probably it will affect the consultative Loya Jirga on peace talks, which may affect the outcome of the Peace Consultative Meeting, we expect the meeting of political party representatives to be delayed with the Taliban in Qatar,” Mr. Dawoodzai said.
The Peace Consultative Loya Jirga is scheduled to be held on the 9th of Sawyer. Yesterday, the office of former President Hamid Karzai announced that the second round of political parties meeting will be held between the Taliban and political parties in Doha, Qatar, in a few weeks.
