Citizens of Afghanistan today went to the polling stations in 34 provinces and in more than 4900 polling stations to cast their ballots in the election for electing a new president for the country, but the election has been held in the shadow of tight security since last night. Security measures have become more stringent and Afghan security and defense forces have been tasked with securing better voter and polling stations for the Army, police and national directorate of forces, along with other security agencies, to carry out serious security programs.
Presidential elections are being held under the umbrella of tight security across the country, while the armed opposition has warned the citizens that if they would go to polling stations, they will prevent the citizens from voting with launching attacks.
