The Presidential Palace wrote in a newsletter that President Ghani today hosted presidential election candidates. The newsletter said that all the upcoming presidential candidates and a number of political party leaders and their representatives were present at the meeting. The president of the country has discussed with the upcoming presidential candidates the idea of modifying, defending and electing some of the substance of the electoral law. At the meeting, Mr. Ghani said: “The draft law on the amendment of the electoral law has been prepared to take all the views and make the moderation possible.”
The second vice president also said that the plan was not prepared by the government. Mohammad Sarwar Danish said at the consultation meeting “Draft amendment to the electoral law is not a government plan, since more than 20 sessions have been held in this regard, and the draft is the result of proposals and consultations made with all parties.»
On the other hand, the Cohesion Council of the presidential candidates and political parties has published a newsletter that President Ghani and the executive director should not be the only ones to interfere in the moderation of the electoral law. They have argued that if the candidates were in the moderator’s meeting of the electoral law will not be present; the government will be leading the electoral engineering effort.
