According to domestic media reports, the recounting process of votes in 5 provinces is over and this process is expected to end in Baghlan today. Habib Rahman Nang, head of the IEC secretariat, said: “The recount process is running smoothly in Baghlan and our technical partners have pledged to end the process today if there would be no interference by observers of electoral teams.”

According to reports, the recount of votes in the provinces of Badakhshan, Faryab, Jawzjan, Takhar, Sar-e Pol, Baghlan and Panjsher was delayed due to opposition to stability and convergence and a number of other campaigns. Some election blocs have now claimed that the IEC should resume the process of recounting votes in provinces with no observers present. While the presidential election is being held for this year, with almost three months left to go, the fate of the election is still unclear. This is in addition to criticism that has increased unemployment and other challenges for Afghan citizens.
