A few days ago, reports were issued that the United Nations Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Tadamichi Yamamoto, told the IEC officials that the organization should focus more on the holding of presidential elections than holding three elections simultaneously. Now, the United Nations has rejected the report, saying that Mr. Yamamato’s words have been distorted in connection with the upcoming elections in Afghanistan.
The United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy has said: “The United Nations wants to hold all three elections in the same way, and we will support this process, but I’m reluctant to hold the presidential election in a way that Separately, this issue has been distorted. “Earlier, the head of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) told Hawa Alam-Nuristani that, along with the United Nations, the US embassy had called on the commission to focus on presidential elections instead of holding an election.
