The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has published a newsletter that the Telecommunication minister has closed the Roshan company local branch in Kabul due to selling illegal SIM cards. The newsletter reads: “Today, Shahzad Gul Aryobi, the telecoms minister of the country, has closed the Roshan telecom company for selling illegal SIM cards. During an observation of this branch by the Minister of telecommunications, the officials were able to seize dozens illegal SIMs from the company.”

The media department Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry has also said: “Mr Aryobi has warned the telecom company and all SIM card vendors that if this kind of actions would be repeated again, the license of the companies will be canceled. In addition, the telecommunication minister has asked the SIM card vendors to play their role in providing security and stability to citizens, otherwise they will be punished.”

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the country has also said that it is unacceptable for this non-law enforcement company to sell SIM cards and that anyone detained in this case will be severely punished.
