Nicholas Kay, a NATO civilian ambassador to Kabul, said the Taliban’s disarmament and reintegration of the group should be part of the peace process among the involved parties in the process. “The disarmament, redeployment, and reintegration should be a central part of the peace process,” the NATO official who directly responded to Citizens’ questions on Twitter, he has also stated: “Afghan citizens will decide on the future of their security forces. NATO will continue its support for the Afghan security forces, while opportunities for peace have been created by the parties.”

Ambassador Kay has also highlighted that preserving the achievements of Afghanistan, especially its achievements in the area of human and women’s rights, is one of the fundamental issues that should be maintained during peace talks process. He has emphasized that the protection of human rights in Afghanistan can actually make this country a successor to victory and successes in upcoming challenges and NATO will support.
