Local authorities in Kunduz say the Taliban have launched an offensive in the provincial capital.

The Kunduz Provincial Council tells the media: The Taliban attacked downtown Kunduz around 2am last night.

Clashes are continuing at security checkpoints and district authorities. Reports from Kunduz province meanwhile have resulted in the launch of two missiles into one hospital area.

Dozens have been killed and injured as a result of the clashes, according to reports.

The 217 Pamir Army also wrote in a news release: Commando forces, special forces and police forces were backed by air force support and the Taliban are now defeated.

It has been several times that the Taliban have been attacked in Kunduz province, but the Taliban have been attacking the province more than twice so far.
