The national army in the Kohistanat district of Faryab has been able to defeat the Taliban by their air and ground operations while a group of insurgents attacks security check posts. Mohammad Haneef Rezayee, the spokesman for the 209th Shaheen Corps, told Pasbanan News Agency: “The Taliban launched attacks from four sides on check post of security forces last night around 7 o clock at noon in the area of Qala-e-Moqawmat in Kohistanat district of Faryab, but their attack was answered with the resistance of the security forces and the support of the air forces of the country and finally these insurgents were defeated.”

Mr. Rezayee added: “At least nine Taliban militants were killed in the incident, and seven others were wounded. After a brief clash between the army and the Taliban, the fighters forced the group to defeat and retreat in the district of Kohistanat. The 209 Shaheen Corps Spokesman also said that during this operation no one was harmed from security forces and civilians.”209 Shaheen Corps says that while the Taliban were killed and wounded, 16 Taliban militants have not yet voiced their views on this.
